  • YHWH/Yeshua/Torah: Chanukah begins at sunset December 6, 2015.

    Chanukah is on 25 Kislev

(December 4, 2015 at sunset):  This coming Shabbat Torah Parashah reading is on Dec. 5, 2015 [23rd of Kislev, 5776]

Torah Parashah 9: Vayeshev (He continued living)

    Torah: Genesis 37:1-40:23

    Haftorah: Amos 2:6-3:8

    Gospels and Emissaries: Acts 7:9-16

Hanukkah (or Chanukah) starts at sunset Dec. 6 [25th of Kislev, 5776] and ends at sunset, Dec. 14 [3rd of Tevet, 5776]. It is not one of the Biblical feasts but, rather, traditional Jews and Netzari/ Messianic believers celebrate this holiday in remembrance of the victory of a small band of Jews over the occupying army of Syrian king Antiochus Epiphanes. Antiochus, who came to power in 175 B.C.E. forbade the Jews to practice their religion, and desecrated their Temple.

Yeshua is the Light of the world.

Yeshua haMashiyach: The Light of the World

    John 1:1-5

    The Word Becomes Flesh

1In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2He was with God in the beginning.

3All things were made through Him, and apart from Him nothing was made that has come into being.

4In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it.

I am the light of the world. The one who follows Me will no longer walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. (John 8:12 you can read all verses ok?)

    1 John 1:1-7

    God Manifested Word of Life

1What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of life

2the life was revealed, and we have seen and testify and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.

3What we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so you may have fellowship with us. Indeed, our fellowship is with the Father and His Son, Yeshua the Messiah.

4These things we write so our joy may be full.

    God Light Dispels Darkness

5Now this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to youthat God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.

6If we say we have fellowship with Him and keep walking in the darkness, we are lying and do not practice the truth.

7But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of His Son Yeshua purifies us from all sin.

    Matthew 5:14-16 TLV

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on a lampstand so it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men so they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."

  • YHWH/Yeshua/Torah: "It is I"

    Exodus 3

    Shalom!

Share the good news of YHWH/Yeshua/Torah: I read Torah Parasha #7 Vayetze (And he departed) very interesting.

Andrew G. Roth, Aramaic & Hebrew scholar:

VEHINEY ANOCHI IMACH (28:15) = and behold I am with you. Similar statements are given to Moshe (Exodus 3:12) and said by Y'shua (Matthew 28:20) as...

Bereishit (Genesis) 28:15 TLV: Behold, I am with you, and I will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land, for I will not forsake you until I have done what I promised you."

Exodus 3:12 TLV So He said, "I will surely be with you. So that will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you. When you have brought the people out of Egypt: you will worship God on this mountain."

Matthew 28:20 TLV teaching them to observe all I have commanded you. And remember! I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

    Exodus 3 TLV

Exo 3:1 Now Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. So he led the flock to the farthest end of the wilderness, coming to the mountain of God, Horeb.

Exo 3:2 Then the angel of Adonai appeared to him in a flame of fire from within a bush. So he looked and saw the bush burning with fire, yet it was not consumed.

Exo 3:3 Moses thought, "I will go now, and see this great sight. Why is the bush not burnt?"

Exo 3:4 When Adonai saw that he turned to look, He called to him out of the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses!" So he answered, "Hineni."

Exo 3:5 Then He said, "Come no closer. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."

Exo 3:6 Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob." So Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

Exo 3:7 Then Adonai said, "I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their slave masters, for I know their pains.

Exo 3:8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, to bring them up out of that land into a good and large land, a land flowing with milk and honey, into the place of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.

Exo 3:9 Now behold, the cry of Bnei-Yisrael has come to Me. Moreover I have seen the oppression that the Egyptians have inflicted on them.

Exo 3:10 Come now, I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people Bnei-Yisrael out from Egypt."

Exo 3:11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring Bnei-Yisrael out of Egypt?"

Exo 3:12 So He said, "I will surely be with you. So that will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you. When you have brought the people out of Egypt: you will worship God on this mountain."

Exo 3:13 But Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to Bnei-Yisrael and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His Name?’ What should I say to them?"

Exo 3:14 God answered Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. " Then He said, "You are to say to Bnei-Yisrael, ‘I AM’ has sent me to you."

Exo 3:15 God also said to Moses: "You are to say to Bnei-Yisrael, Adonai, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and the Name by which I should be remembered from generation to generation.

Exo 3:16 "Go now, gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them: ‘Adonai, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—has appeared to me, saying, I have been paying close attention to you and have seen what is done to you in Egypt.

Exo 3:17 So I promise I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt, into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.’

Exo 3:18 "They will listen to your voice. So you will go, you along with the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and say to him: ‘Adonai, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to Adonai our God.’

Exo 3:19 Nevertheless, I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go, except by a mighty hand.

Exo 3:20 So I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with all My wonders that I will do in the midst of it. After that, he will let you go.

Exo 3:21 "Then I shall grant these people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians. So it will happen that when you go, you will not leave empty-handed.

Exo 3:22 Every woman is to ask her neighbor and the woman who lives in her house for silver and gold jewelry and clothing. You will put them on your sons and your daughters. So you will plunder the Egyptians."

  • YHWH/Yeshua/Torah: Servant of YHWH (ebed Yahweh)

    serve

    Yeshua came to serve.

    Servant of Yahweh (ebed Yahweh):

The verb עבד ('abad) means to work or serve

The name Ebed comes directly from the root עבד, meaning servant or to serve.

Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

In Isaiah 53:10-12 TLV Yeshua haMashiyach, The Suffering Servant of Elohim (God)

Isa 53:10 But יהוה was pleased to crush Him, He laid sickness on Him, that when He made Himself an offering for guilt, He would see a seed, He would prolong His days and the pleasure of יהוה prosper in His hand.

Isa 53:11 He would see the result of the suffering of His life and be satisfied. Through His knowledge My righteous Servant makes many righteous, and He bears their crookednesses.

Isa 53:12 Therefore I give Him a portion among the great, and He divides the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His being unto death, and He was counted with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Torah 101 for Newbies read Devotion Day:

Yeshua haMashiyach is The High Priest (Heb. כהן גדול Kohen Gadol) eternity.

Hebrews 6:13-20 TLV The Promise and the Oath...
13Now when God made His promise to Abraham—since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself,
14saying, “Surely I will bless you, and surely I will multiply you.”
15And so after waiting patiently, Abraham reached the promise.
16For people swear by someone greater; and the oath, as confirmation, is an end to all their disputing.
17In the same way God, determining to point out more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchanging nature of His purpose, guaranteed it with an oath.
18So by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.
19We have this hope as an anchor of the soul, both firm and steady—a hope that enters the inner place behind the curtain.
20Yeshua has entered there as a forerunner on our behalf, having become Kohen Gadol “forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.”

    Shavua Tov!

Carmen Welker on October 31, 2015 in Facebook:

Just some random thoughts about this week’s Torah study (Parsha 4):

After we’ve seen Avraham twice lying about being Sarah’s husband (as told in Genesis 12, 20 and 26), he FINALLY learns to trust YHWH as time goes on, as we see in the story of how Avraham was willing to kill his son, Isaac (Genesis 22). Of course, we know how that story ends, but, have you ever seen the similarities between this story and what happened to YHWH's own Son, Y'shua?

For instance: First, we see Abraham being told by YHWH to take his only son Isaac to Mt. Moriah - YHWH gave us His only son on Mt. Moriah, which is in Jerusalem today where the Temple should be on the Temple Mount (instead we have that Muslim pimple taking up that precious space!). Anyway, this whole story is a "picture" of the Perfect sacrifice!

In verse 3 Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey - Y'shua rode into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. In verse 4, we read, "On the third day Abraham saw a place afar off..." Imagine his dread as he, at that point, "saw" his son dead and in the arms of YHWH! (Y'shua arose on the third day.)

In verse 6 Abraham placed the wood for the burnt offering on Isaac's back - just like the stake was placed on Y'shua's back. In verse 8 Abraham told Isaac that YHWH would provide for Himself a lamb for the burnt offering - Y'shua WAS the Perfect Lamb of YHWH, our final sin sacrifice!

In verse 9 Abraham tied Isaac to the wood (Y'shua was placed on and nailed to the stake). In verses 10 and 11 we see "the Angel of YHWH" (was it perhaps Y'shua?) commending Abraham on his faith and willingness to be totally obedient to YHWH.

Finally in verse 13 we see YHWH providing the ram which was caught in the thicket by his horns. It is interesting to note that the thorns around the ram's head were similar to the crown of thorns placed on Y'shua's head...

Maybe I'm "reading too much into this" but I feel this whole passage can be viewed a wonderful picture of YHWH's provision (YHWH Yireh) to our obedience.

Please click and read Genesis 22:

    Amein?

I researched on Bereishit (Genesis) 22:14 very interesting:

Abraham named the place 'God will See' (YHWH Yir'eh). Today, it is therefore said, 'On God's Mountain, He will be seen.'

Vayikra Avraham shem-hamakom hahu Yahweh Yir'eh asher ye'amer hayom behar Yahweh yera'eh.

    Yireh
As we have seen, the original name of the place was Salem (Genesis 14:18). With yireh added to it, it became Yeru-shalem or Jerusalem (Midrash Tehillim 76).

Andrew G. Roth on Torah Parasha #4 VaYera (And appeared):

YAHWEH YIREH (22:14) = YHWH will see. Since the name of the place is established as Salem, YIREH+SALEM is where we get "Jerusalem". In a sense this can mean, "YHWH will see peace". Others render the place name as "YHWH will provide" but the word really does mean to see.

    HalleluYAH! May YHWH bless you.

First read deep food thought of YHWH/Yeshua/Torah:

Abba YHWH appeared to [Abraham] in the Plains of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance of the tent in the hottest part of the day.

Interesting about in the Plains of Mamre:

Gen 18:1 TLV Then Adonai appeared to him at Mamre’s large trees while he was sitting in the entrance of his tent during the heat of the day.

    Mamre's large trees:

Pistacia terebinthus, known commonly as terebinth and turpentine tree. The Hebrew word: elah (plural elot some says elim).   Plains of Mamre: terebinth or oak of Mamre; a tall-spreading tree or grove of trees."Terebinths of Mamre the Amorite" [oaks of Mamre the Amorite].

    Terebinth in NET Glossary:

a small tree (up to about 30 feet or 9 meters in height) occurring frequently in the hills of Palestine also known as the pistachio nut tree (pistachio nuts are mentioned in Genesis 43:11; several species are found in Israel (Pistacia lentiscus, Pistacia terebinthus) along with the much larger Atlantic terebinth (Pistacia atlantica) which resembles an oak (some English Bible translations use "oak" and "terebinth" interchangeably, but note Hosea 4:13 where they are mentioned together). Some says elms, but rather "terebinth".

Genesis 43:11 TLV about Israel (Jacob):

Gen 43:11 Then their father Israel said to them, "If it must be so, then do this: take some of the best products of the land in your bags, and bring an offering down to the man—a little balsam and a little honey, gum and myrrh, pistachios and almonds.

    Interesting about the pistachio nuts:

    Terebinth

NET Glossary: a small tree (up to about 30 feet or 9 meters in height) occurring frequently in the hills of Palestine also known as the pistachio nut tree (pistachio nuts are mentioned in Gen 43:11); several species are found in Israel (Pistacia lentiscus, Pistacia terebinthus) along with the much larger Atlantic terebinth (Pistacia atlantica) which resembles an oak (some English Bible translations use "oak" and "terebinth" interchangeably, but note Hos 4:13 where they are mentioned together)

    Terebinth [EBD]

(R.V. marg. of Deut. 11:30, etc.), the Pistacia terebinthus of botanists; a tree very common in the south and east of Palestine. (See OAK.)

    TEREBINTH [ISBE]

TEREBINTH - ter'-e-binth: (1) 'elah (Isa 6:13, the King James Version "teil tree"; Hos 4:13, the King James Version "elms"); in Gen 35:4 (the King James Version "oak"); Jdg 6:11,19; 9:6 (the King James Version "plain"); 2 Sam 18:9,10,14; 1 Ki 13:14; 1 Ch 10:12; Isa 1:30; Ezek 6:13, translated "oak," and in margin "terebinth"; "vale of Elah," margin "the terebinth" in 1 Sam 17:2,19; 21:9. (2) 'elim (Isa 1:29, "oaks," margin "terebinths"). (3) 'allah (Josh 24:26, English Versions of the Bible have "oak," but the Septuagint terebinthos). (4) 'elon, "oak (margin, "terebinth") of Zaanannim" (Josh 19:33; Jdg 4:11); "oak (the Revised Version margin "terebinth," the King James Version "plain") of Tabor" (1 Sam 10:3); also Gen 12:6; 13:18; 14:13; 1 Sam 10:3; Dt 11:30; Jdg 6:19 all translated "oak" or "oaks," with margin "terebinth" or "terebinths." (5) In Gen 14:6 Septuagint has terebinthos, as the translation of the el of El-paran. (6) In Ecclesiasticus 24:16 terem (b)inthos, the King James Version turpentine tree," the Revised Version (British and American) "terebinth."

It is clear that the translators are uncertain which translation is correct, and it would seem not improbable that then there was no clear distinction between oak and terebinth in the minds of the Old Testament. writers; yet the two are very different trees to any but the most superficial observation.

The terebinth--Pistacia terebinthus (Natural Order, Anacardiaceae), Arabic Butm]--is a tree allied to the P. vera, which produces the pistachio nut, and to the familiar "pepper tree" (Schinus molle) so extensively cultivated in modern Palestine. Like the latter the terebinth has red berries, like small immature grapes. The leaves are pinnate, four to six pairs, and they change color and fall in autumn, leaving the trunk bare (compare Isa 1:30). The terebinth is liable to be infected by many showy galls, some varieties looking like pieces of red coral. In Palestine, this tree assumes noble proportions, especially in situations when, from its association with some sacred tomb, it is allowed to flourish undisturbed. It is in such situations not infrequently as much as 40 ft. high and spreads its branches, with their thick, dark-green foliage, over a wide area (compare 2 Sam 18:9 f,14; Ecclesiasticus 24:16). Dwarfed trees occur among the brushwood all over the land.

From this tree a kind of turpentine is obtained, hence, the alternative name "turpentine tree" (Ecclesiasticus 24:16 the King James Version, the Revised Version (British and American) "terebinth").

    John 12 TLV

    Miriam Anoints the Messiah

1Six days before Passover, Yeshua came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Yeshua had raised from the dead.

2So they prepared a dinner there for Yeshua. Martha was serving, and Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.

3Then Miriam took a pound of very expensive oil of pure nard and anointed Yeshua’s feet, and she wiped His feet dry with her hair. Now the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.

4But Judah from Kriot, one of His disciples, the one who was about to betray Him, said,

5"Why wasn’t this oil sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?"

6Now he said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief. Since he had the moneybox, he used to steal from what was put in it.

7Therefore Yeshua said, "Leave her alone! She set it aside for the day of My burial.

8You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have Me."

9Now a large crowd of Judeans knew He was there and came, not only for Yeshua but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.

10So the ruling kohanim made plans to kill Lazarus also,

11because on account of him many of the Jewish people were going and putting their trust in Yeshua.

    Israel’s King Has Come

12The next day, the huge crowd that had come up for the feast heard that Yeshua was coming to Jerusalem.

13So they took palm branches and went out to meet Him, shouting, "‘Hoshia-na! Baruch ha-ba b’shem Adonai! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!"

14Finding a young donkey, Yeshua sat on it, as it is written,

15"Fear not, Daughter of Zion! Look! Your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt."

16His disciples did not understand these things at first. But when Yeshua was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that the crowd had done these things for Him.

17So the crowd, which had been with Yeshua when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, kept on telling everyone about it.

18It was also for this reason that the crowd came out to meet Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.

19So the Pharisees said to each other, "You see that you can’t do anything. Look, the whole world has taken off after Him!"

    Fallen Seed Produces a Harvest

20Now there were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship at the feast.

21These came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in the Galilee. "Sir," they said, "we want to see Yeshua."

22Philip comes and tells Andrew; Andrew and Philip come and tell Yeshua.

23Yeshua answers them, saying, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified!

24Amen, amen I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it produces much fruit.

25He who loves his life will lose it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it forever.

26If any man serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there also will My servant be. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

27"Now My soul is troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But it was for this reason I came to this hour.

28Father, glorify Your name!" Then a voice came out of heaven, "I have glorified it, and again I will glorify it!"

29Therefore the crowd that was standing there and heard it was saying that it had thundered. Others were saying, "An angel has spoken to Him."

30Yeshua responded, "This voice hasn’t come for My sake, but for yours.

31Now is the judgment of this world! Now the prince of this world will be driven out!

32And as I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all to Myself."

33He said this to show the kind of death He was about to die.

34The crowd answered Him, "We’ve heard from Scripture that the Messiah remains forever. How can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?"

Choose Either the Light or the Darkness

35Therefore Yeshua said to them, "The light is with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness will not overtake you. The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where he is going.

36While you have the light, believe in the light so that you may become sons of light." Yeshua spoke these things, then left and hid Himself from them.

37But even though He had performed so many signs before them, they weren’t trusting in Him.

38This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet, who said, "Adonai, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of Adonai been revealed?"

39For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah also said,

40"He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they might not see with their eyes nor understand with their hearts and turn back, and I would heal them."

41Isaiah said these things because he saw His glory and spoke of Him.

    42Nevertheless many, even among the leaders, put their trust in Him. But because of the Pharisees, they were not confessing Yeshua, so they would not be thrown out of the synagogue;

43for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.

44Yeshua cried out, "Whoever puts trust in Me believes not in Me but in the One who sent Me!

45And whoever beholds Me beholds the One who sent Me.

46As light I have come into the world, so that everyone who trusts in Me should not remain in darkness.

47"If anyone hears My words but doesn’t keep them, I do not judge him; for I came to save the world, not to judge the world.

48The one who rejects Me and doesn’t receive My words has a judge; the word I spoke will judge him on the last day.

49For I did not speak on My own, but the Father Himself who sent Me has commanded Me what to say and speak.

50And I know that His commandment is life everlasting. Therefore what I say, I say just as the Father has told Me."
